This software for macos causes so much input lag on my computer, which is one of the newer macs designed for programming... and my school requires me to use it because they have a partnership with this software to access the text books. you need to do better.
Terrible. Cannot handle basic functions such as highlighting despite advertising these features. The more you use said features, the glitchier the software becomes until is completely unusable.
AVOID buying books that require you to use VitalSource Bookshelf. Every single basic function of a book reader that you can think of is implemented awfully, and you're get locked in that.
Do NOT waist money on test books from Vital! The quality is worse than PDF. Supper slow, desktop apps crash on Mac and Windows. Extremely SLOW! I cannot never read the chapter in full because online it's slow, constantly logs you out. It is not worth. They do not offer one single thing that works consistently.
Super lazy coding on this slow and poorly implemented software. For one, they list it as a 'feature' that if you do a phrase search of a book, it will return all instances of every word independently in your phase. Think about the logic in that for a second. Absolutely useless for any researcher or student. All this and it is very slow in navigation and searching. Wish there was an option for less than one stars. When I started using it I didn't get 2 pages before I searched up ways to just download the book to PDF.
I am stunned that the editor review tries to downplay how bad this application truly is. It is not powerful. It is barely functional. Most criticism is regarding the book reading window. For an app that is purely for reading books, this is a devastating criticism.

Terrible app. Makes you want to stick with paper books. No mouse scrolling for all books. unintuitive. Not buying any more text books for it. Do not understand how our university could use it.
Absolutely the worst. I can’t believe I spent money on this app. I made the mistake of buying multiple books on here without knowing how bad it was. Do NOT make the same mistake I did. During an open book quiz, it refused to open. Freezes all the time. If I open and close the side bar, it scrolls me all the way to oblivion, losing where I was. Some books are formatted differently than others, which is strange at best. Some books offer continuous scroll while others don’t. Some books offer “dark” option while others don’t. Very strange. And don’t even get me started with the text to speech. It’s the only reason why I haven’t tried to ask for a refund but it just sounds like where that immature guy in class makes his computer talk about female body. Also, I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it is incompatible with Apple Pencil but it’s a horrible experience. On the iPad, it freezes after every highlight. On the laptop it just lags. Never again
This app is very bad. Not only is it twice as poor in use than Adobe Digital Editions (and that is saying something), you can't even find where the .exe is stored to create a desktop shortcut!
Extremely slow and not responsive while scrolling and zooming, even if I'm using high-performance computers (i7, 16G, discrete graphics). Poorly optimized for Windows, Mac and mobiles.
